I’ve had a lot of people reaching out to me and asking about the turmeric shots I sometimes post pictures of. I take a single shot in the morning on an empty stomach 2-3 times a week. I’ve read that you can take them daily if you feel so inclined.
These wellness shots are great for increasing blood circulation, regulating blood sugar and cholesterol, improving gut and skin health and fighting inflammation (the leading cause of Western diseases.)
1 cup of juice (or water if you’re really brave – I’m not that brave)
2 tablespoons of turmeric powder
2 tablespoons of oil (unrefined coconut oil, olive oil or MCT oil are all good options)
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
I like to use a medium-sized mixing bowl with a pour spout. One thing to keep in mind is to be EXTREMELY careful pouring and mixing because turmeric stains and will ruin clothing if you’re not careful. The pour spout makes the process a little less messy when transferring into a container for storing.
Pour the juice into the mixing bowl as the base. Add all the ingredients individually, mixing as you go so that it doesn’t get clumpy. Transfer the mixture into a container for storage. I tend to use a mason jar with a lid. No need to go out and buy anything extra. Old pasta jars work just fine. Store in the refrigerator.
Pour yourself a shot in the morning on an empty stomach to maximize the benefits. You may want to do this on the weekend the first few times until your body gets used to it. Not because of the taste, but because you may find yourself needing to use the bathroom with a little more urgency than usual HA! It’s not a diuretic by any means, but it affects everyone’s body differently. When introducing anything new to your system, it’s always good to play it safe 🙂
